Sterilisation Method.
Sterilisation by irradiation in the overwrap. NB: The bags can be slightly coloured without this being a visible sign of deterioration.
Storage Conditions and Shelf-life.
- Store out of direct sunlight and frost at a temperature between 0°C and +35°C.
- 5 years shelf life in sealed packaging.

Sterile class I device (compliant with EC labelling dossier).
Instructions for use
Preparation
- Before use, check the expiry date; ensure that the overwrap and the device are intact. Reject any faulty contents. If necessary, bring to a temperature between +15°C and +30°C.
- Prepare the material necessary for the ascites puncture: bags, needles, skin antiseptic, pressure pads, catheter…
- Only remove the device from its packaging just before use. Place the bags onto a clean surface (the overwrap may be used for this purpose). Close the blue clamps and the flow regulator.
- Proceed with the puncture in an aseptic manner, according to musual procedure.
- Connect the luer-lock to the device at the puncture site.
- Open the clamp and the flow regulator. The ascites liquid flows into the tubing. If necessary, prime the device by connecting a syringe to the 3-way stopcock.
- It is possible to proceed with the collection of ascites liquid in the same way.
- Fill the drip chamber.
- Place the bag onto a clean surface or hang it by its eyelets, 30cm below the puncture site.
- Establish the quantity of ascites liquid collected by reading the graduated scale.
- If the volume collected is above to 3500ml, an additional bag can be connected (ref VSL8000XQ). See the relevant technical data file for instructions on how to use.
- At the end of the puncture, close the flow regulator and the clamps.
- Remove the device and dispose of it in accordance with the regulations in place concerning high-risk waste.
